FAQs
How Does the Membership/Cancellation/No Show Policy Work?
Membership policy states that the membership benefit of one facial per month does not roll over if the appointment is not scheduled or attended within that month. If a 48-hour notice is not given and/or No Show, a charge of half of the cost of service will be applied to the credit card on file. This structure encourages consistent care while ensuring fairness to all clients. The facials offered in the membership program can be alternated from month to month.
How Does the Cancellation/No Show Policy Work?
If a 48-hour notice is not given and/or No Show, a charge of half of the cost of service will be applied to the credit card on file.
Being late for your appointment may result in rescheduling your appointment to the next available date and time. Please call (253) 509-0687 if you are going to be late to reschedule.
Please know that I hold myself to the same standards. If I ever have to cancel an appointment at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, I always pay it forward by offering 50% off the rescheduled service as a gesture of goodwill.
I truly value your trust and support and am always here to discuss any concerns further. Thank you for your understanding and for being such an important part of my business.

Do Facials Hurt?
Facials generally shouldn’t hurt, but the level of discomfort can vary depending on the type of facial treatment you're getting, your skin's sensitivity, and the specific techniques or products used. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect in terms of comfort:
1. Relaxing Facials (Hydrating, Soothing, Calming)
Pain Level: Low to None
These are typically the most comfortable types of facials. The process involves gentle cleansing, soothing masks, and relaxing massages. If you're getting a hydrating facial or a calming facial, it's meant to feel soothing and refreshing, not painful.
2. Extractions (Blackhead Removal)
Pain Level: Moderate
One of the more uncomfortable parts of a facial can be extractions, where the esthetician removes blackheads or clogged pores. This can sometimes cause mild discomfort, especially if you have more stubborn blemishes or congestion in the skin. The sensation is similar to a slight pinch or pressure but shouldn't be unbearable. The pain is usually short-lived, and most people find relief once the extractions are complete.
3. Chemical Peels
Pain Level: Mild to Moderate
Chemical peels involve applying acids to exfoliate the skin and can cause some tingling, stinging, or mild burning sensations, especially if the peel is more intensive. The discomfort typically subsides within a few minutes. For deeper peels, the tingling can be stronger, but it’s generally not considered painful—just uncomfortable.
4. Microdermabrasion
Pain Level: Low
Microdermabrasion involves using a device to gently "sand" the skin’s surface. It can feel like a mild scratching or a slight abrasion. While it might feel a little gritty or slightly rough, it generally shouldn't be painful. Afterward, your skin may feel a bit sensitive or flushed, similar to a mild sunburn.
5. LED Light Therapy
Pain Level: None
LED light therapy is a non-invasive, pain-free treatment that uses light to promote healing, reduce acne, and boost collagen. You may feel a slight warmth, but it's generally a very relaxing part of the facial.
6. Facial Massages
Pain Level: None to Mild
A facial massage is usually soothing and relaxing. If the esthetician uses a bit of pressure to work on muscle tension in your face or neck, it might feel slightly tender if you're holding tension, but it shouldn't cause pain. If at any point it feels too hard or uncomfortable, you can ask the esthetician to lighten the pressure.
7. Sensitive Skin or Conditions
Pain Level: Higher for Sensitive Skin
If you have sensitive skin, conditions like rosacea, or active acne, you may experience more discomfort during certain parts of the facial, especially during extractions or exfoliation. Be sure to communicate your skin type or any conditions to your esthetician, so they can adjust their techniques to minimize discomfort.
8. High-Intensity Treatments (Laser Facials, Microneedling)
Pain Level: Moderate to High (depending on the treatment)
Some high-tech facials, like laser treatments or microneedling, can cause discomfort. Microneedling involves tiny needles creating controlled micro-injuries to stimulate collagen production, and it can feel prickly or slightly painful. These treatments may require numbing cream beforehand to help manage any discomfort.
Key Tips for a Comfortable Facial:
Communicate: If at any point you feel discomfort or pain during the facial, let your esthetician know. They can adjust the pressure or techniques to make the experience more comfortable.
Set Expectations: If you’re nervous about certain treatments (like extractions or peels), ask the esthetician beforehand what to expect. Knowing what will happen can help alleviate any anxiety about potential discomfort.
In general, facials are designed to be a relaxing and beneficial experience, and any discomfort is usually temporary and manageable. Most people leave a facial feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and relaxed!
Can I get a Facial Pregnant?
Yes, you can generally get a facial while pregnant, but there are some precautions and modifications you might want to consider to ensure both your safety and comfort. Pregnancy can cause hormonal changes that affect your skin, and certain treatments or ingredients may not be suitable during this time. Here are some important things to keep in mind:
1. Avoid Certain Ingredients
Some skincare ingredients commonly used in facials may not be recommended during pregnancy. These include:
Retinoids (Vitamin A derivatives): These are often found in anti-aging and acne treatments. High doses of retinoids have been linked to birth defects, so it's best to avoid them during pregnancy.
Salicylic Acid: While it's found in many acne treatments, high doses of salicylic acid (especially in chemical peels) are generally avoided during pregnancy. However, small amounts in products like cleansers or masks may be okay.
Chemical Peels (with certain acids): Strong chemical peels or those containing ingredients like glycolic acid or salicylic acid may not be advisable. There are, however, gentler options available.
2. Choose Gentle Treatments
Hydrating and calming facials are often a great choice during pregnancy. Treatments that focus on hydration and soothing, such as gentle facials with calming masks or serums, can help with common skin concerns during pregnancy, like dryness, sensitivity, or acne.
Facials with extractions: Some pregnant women experience breakouts due to hormonal changes. If you're considering a facial with extractions (removing blackheads or clogged pores), be sure to discuss this with your esthetician to make sure they use gentle methods.
3. Pregnancy-Safe Facial Options
Some spas and salons offer facials specifically designed for pregnant women. These facials usually use gentle products and avoid ingredients that are not recommended during pregnancy.
4. Massage Considerations
During a facial, you may receive a neck or shoulder massage. If you're in your second or third trimester, it’s important to mention your pregnancy to your esthetician, as certain pressure points or positions might not be ideal. They may need to adjust the technique for comfort and safety.
5. Essential Oils and Fragrances
While some people love the use of essential oils during facials, it's important to ensure the ones used are pregnancy-safe. Certain essential oils, like peppermint or rosemary, are not recommended during pregnancy, as they may trigger adverse reactions or affect hormone levels.
6. Check with Your Doctor
If you have specific health concerns, or if you’re undergoing high-risk pregnancy care, it’s always a good idea to check with your doctor before scheduling a facial. They may have additional recommendations based on your personal health history.
7. Listen to Your Body
Pregnancy can make your skin more sensitive or reactive. If you’ve experienced changes like increased sensitivity, redness, or acne, let your esthetician know so they can adjust the facial to your needs. Also, always communicate if you’re feeling uncomfortable during the treatment.
In summary, facials can be a relaxing and beneficial way to care for your skin while pregnant, as long as you choose pregnancy-safe products and treatments. Always consult with your esthetician and consider any potential sensitivities or contraindications before getting a facial during pregnancy.
Why Get Facials?
Getting facials can offer a variety of benefits for your skin and overall well-being. Here are some key reasons why people choose to get facials:
1. Deep Cleansing
Facials help to thoroughly cleanse the skin, removing dirt, oil, and impurities that regular cleansing might miss. This can help prevent clogged pores and reduce breakouts.
2. Exfoliation
Facials often include exfoliation, which removes dead skin cells, leaving the skin smoother and brighter. Regular exfoliation can help improve skin texture and promote cell turnover.
3. Hydration
Many facials involve the application of hydrating masks or serums. This can help replenish moisture, especially for dry or dehydrated skin, making it look plumper and more radiant.
4. Improved Circulation
The massage techniques used during facials stimulate blood flow to the skin, helping to deliver nutrients and oxygen, which can improve skin tone and overall health.
5. Target Specific Skin Concerns
Facials can be customized to target specific skin issues such as acne, pigmentation, fine lines, or sensitivity. Professional products and treatments can address concerns more effectively than at-home products.
6. Anti-Aging Benefits
Certain facials are designed to help with signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles. Treatments like microdermabrasion, chemical peels, or masks with anti-aging ingredients can stimulate collagen production and smooth the skin.
7. Stress Relief
Facials often include soothing massages, which can help reduce stress and promote relaxation. The process can also promote a sense of self-care and wellness.
8. Professional Advice
A trained esthetician can assess your skin type and recommend products or treatments tailored to your needs. They may also give advice on skincare routines or lifestyle changes to improve your skin.
9. Detoxification
Some facials use masks or treatments that help detoxify the skin by removing toxins and impurities. This can give your skin a healthier, refreshed appearance.
10. Increased Skin Radiance
Regular facials can help your skin look brighter, more even, and glowing, thanks to deep cleansing, exfoliation, and the use of high-quality skincare products.
Facials are not just about vanity—they can also be a form of self-care that helps maintain or improve the health of your skin.
